 Piggott (2020) researched that a wide range of nations and regions have identified sport leadership as being gender imbalances and gender inequitable. Piggott also found that gender balances boards have a positive impact on an athletes overall performance. As well as this, it is argued that women bring in new and different and improve the atmosphere. Some positives from this research include that more women can become role models when being a leader or a coach towards younger athletes. This will increase the chances of more women getting involved in sports physically or as a coach in the sports industry. Another positive from this which relates to more female athletes being role models is that this will help increase participation for younger female athletes.
