Task 8 DAPP 700 word

 Throughout the course so far, I have learned and developed new skills. 1 skill is critical thinking. I have had to use critical thinking in different areas of the course so far. This was used when given a topic to talk about the impact of something in the sports industryS this topic was based on the impact of covid throughout sports. Critical thinking was used for this as myself and my partner had to think about what happened in the sports industry when the pandemic hit. This includes what happened to the financial side of sports throughout the pandemic. I feel I have improved when it comes to critical thinking. This is because I am able to think about what happened in something. This includes the impact that covid had in sports as well as much  more. I can also work towards being more of a critical thinker as Rollins(2010) states that “to build upon critical thinking, you can examine skills such as organisation, problem solving and asking questions”.

Another skill which was developed is the use of planning. In a skills development wheel, I have scored myself a 7/10 on the skill development wheel. This is because I think I can plan good sessions as a coach, but I also feel I could improve this as well. This could be done by adding in more progressions where necessary. Planning had been used throughout the course so far to plan different sessions or practice sessions. I have had to plan these to make them as fun and as enjoyable as possible for the participants to take part while also taking any relevant feedback along the way from participants, peers or my assessor. This will help me improve my planning skills further for future areas where planning is required. This is a skill i have developed because I have been able to make sessions fun for participants. This shows that I can plan sessions in different sports and make them as enjoyable as possible. This is good for me because I can also take feedback and use this to improve my weaknesses as a planner.

Another skill which was developed is the use of communication. In a skill development wheel, I have given myself a 7/10. This is because I am able to give relevant points to where necessary although I think I need to do this more often in order to improve my score. Communication has been used in the same area as critical thinking. This is because myself and my partner would discuss what happened in the sports industry throughout the pandemic. I have also had to use communication to feedback to the rest of the group on the impact of covid. Communication has been used on the coaching side of the course as well. I have had to use communication in coaching by giving instructions to the participants or to explain what is happening in the session. I feel i am able to communicate better as an individual because I am able to discuss topics in a group or with everyone. This is good for me because I am able to give my opinion on something.

As for my future regarding the course, my plan is to stay for the remainder of the course and aim to get the full degree by completing level 4, level 5 and level 6. This is because I plan on becoming an assistant coach for the future to further develop my skills as a coach including communication, planning and confidence. This is because throughout the course so far, I feel these skills have been developed and improved. Although they could be developed and improved further. This can be done by developing further skills in the future throughout the remainder of level 4 and the whole of level 5 and level 6.
